Apple has released its first round of updates to iOS 14, Watch OS 7, and tvOS 14, along with patches for Catalina, Mojave, and High Sierra. 

iOS: Browser, email, and network fixes

iOS 14.0.1 comes with a fix for the default browser and email settings. While this latest upgrade introduced the ability to set your own default browser and email client, some users were reporting their choice didn’t stick after a reboot of the phone. This update claims to fix that issue.

The update also fixes a nasty WiFi bug that would prevent you from being able to connect to some networks. iPhone 7 and 7 Plus owners will also have better luck seeing camera previews in iOS 14.

Mac: Security and WiFi

While we still wait on Big Sur, Catalina, Mojave, and High Sierra all get bug fixes. Like it’s iOS counterpart, it fixes a bug where your Mac may not connect to some WiFi networks. It also fixed an issue with iCloud Drive syncing. Lastly, owners of the latest 27-inch iMac using Radeon Pro 5700 graphics cards should see an improvement to their graphics performance.

Notably, this is the only update in this list that actually has security patches (if you don’t count iCloud for Windows). All the other ones are at this time security bug free. There are only 4 in this patch, but it’s good to go ahead and get these to protect yourself.

Apple Watch:  Payment cards

This update only contained one note, which revolved around fixing an Apple Pay/Wallet bug where certain cards wouldn’t appear. Given this is handy and important feature of the watch, especially in this day and age, it’s a good thing to have fully functional.

Apple TV: Bug Fixes

There isn’t really much to cover here, as usual. Apple just says this is a bug fix update but doesn’t provide any information about what bugs these might be. Likewise there are no security patches listed in this update. For now, we just have to trust the Apple TV is a little more stable.

Older Systems:

Mojave (10.14) and High Sierra (10.13) both received the same security patches as Catalina, but iOS 13, Watch OS 6, and tvOS 13 all went without bug updates. Given the nature of the other patches being bug fixes primarily around new features, it’s not too surprising that we didn’t get any this time around. Probably the next major patch will have a few
